Beijing Urges UN to Prevent Escalation Over Iran’s Nuclear Program.
China Calls for Dialogue
According to UATV: During a United Nations Security Council session, China’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN, Sun Lei, stressed that resolving the situation must rely on dialogue and diplomacy. Beijing has called on the international community to avoid further escalation surrounding Iran’s nuclear activities. The warning comes amid rising tensions linked to the U.S. withdrawal from the nuclear agreement with Tehran.
China also criticized efforts to reimpose sanctions on Iran, arguing that such pressure is ineffective given the current crisis. In response to heightened tensions, Tehran has threatened new strikes if the U.S. takes further action. According to Iranian military officials, potential targets in any retaliatory operation would include:
- American bases in Jordan
- American bases in Kuwait
- American bases in Bahrain
Global Security and China’s Role
The developments surrounding Iran’s nuclear program remain a critical concern for global security, as fresh military threats could trigger even greater conflict. China’s stance reflects a desire to prevent further destabilization in the region and underscores the importance of diplomacy in resolving international crises. This position also aligns with Beijing’s broader efforts to strengthen its image as a peace broker in disputes between nations.
