Klymenko at the forefront: how they hold the defense in the Kupiansk direction and in the Donetsk region

According to ТСН: Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko made a working trip to eastern Ukraine, visiting Kharkiv and Donetsk regions, which are subjected to regular attacks by Russian troops.

Kharkiv region and the situation at the front

In Kharkiv region, Klymenko received reports on the operational situation from the commander of the 2nd Corps of the National Guard 'Charter' Ihor Obolensky and the head of the Eastern Regional Department of the State Border Guard Service Oleksandr Ptytsia. According to them, the Kupiansk direction remains critically important as the enemy tries to increase offensive actions.

‘The successful operation of the “charterists” together with adjacent units of the Defense Forces to unblock Kupiansk is the result of clear planning and professional actions. This is what effective military work looks like,’ the message stated.

The Minister also emphasized the need to activate evacuation. He noted that mobile units of the Migration Service and service centers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs provide services in the most necessary places.

Donetsk and the role of units

On the Donetsk front, Klymenko listened to the report of the commander of the 1st Corps of the National Guard 'Azov' Denys Prokopenko. According to the minister, the units of the corps occupy some of the most difficult sections of the front and inflict significant losses on the enemy — about 500 infantry per day.

‘Drone units are also working effectively. Only “Phoenix” border guards eliminated over 1000 occupiers in December and hit nearly 400 units of enemy robotic systems and logistical transport,’ the minister added.

Anti-drone groups have been created based on the police of Donetsk region, which have destroyed more than 900 enemy drones in a short time.

Needs and awards

During the trip, issues of supplying combat units of the National Guard were also discussed. Klymenko noted that the needs for the upcoming year have already been formed, and the Ministry of Internal Affairs is actively working on their implementation.

‘It was nice to shake hands and present awards to those who defend, attack, rescue, evacuate, and hold the rear and front. These strong and unyielding people are our main guarantee of security. I am grateful to everyone for their service. We work. We hold the positions,’ the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs added.

It is also noted that Russian troops struck in Kherson on December 17 at a heat generation facility, which may lead to heating supply disruptions.

This trip was an important stage in coordinating the actions of defense forces in eastern Ukraine. The minister emphasized the significance of the work of military units and their preparedness for potential threats. Continuous support and awards for the military indicate recognition of their contribution to the defense of the country.
