Power outage schedules will remain in effect until spring: expert named the reason.
According to ТСН: Ukrainian citizens should prepare for the fact that power outage schedules will remain in effect at least until the beginning of spring. No significant improvement in the energy system is expected by the end of winter.
Expert's Comments
Expert Yuriy Korolchuk, co-founder of the Institute of Energy Strategies, noted that the current conditions of generation and operation of the networks do not allow for the quick cancellation of restrictions.
"Unfortunately, the situation cannot improve by the end of winter, by the beginning of March. Even if rocket strikes cease and even if there is a calm period for systemic repairs,"
– he emphasized. According to Korolchuk, warming will be a key factor in stabilization. The situation can only improve significantly with a substantial reduction in electricity consumption for heating.
At this time, many people are using electricity for heating, which creates additional stress on the energy system in winter conditions.
Energy Conservation Situation
The expert also noted the relative stabilization that Ukrainians have observed recently. According to him, the period of winter holidays and the reduction of consumption in industry and households allowed for the release of about 2000 MW of capacity, which positively impacted the situation, even amidst frosts.
"In most regions, power outages are equal in duration,"
– he concluded.
Threat from Russia
The Ukrainian Foreign Intelligence Service reported on the continuation of the Kremlin's special operation aimed at disrupting peace negotiations mediated by the United States. It is known that Russia may shift from information manipulation to armed provocations with serious consequences ahead of or during the celebration of Christmas according to the Julian calendar.
Potential targets of attack may include religious buildings and other important symbolic places in Russia or in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. To create the illusion of a "Ukrainian trace," Russian special services plan to use debris from Western strike drones obtained from the front line.
This situation with energy and the threat from Russia demonstrates how crucial security measures and energy conservation are for Ukrainians in wartime conditions. The Ukrainian energy system continues to be under significant stress, and peace negotiations remain in the focus of the international community, which is monitoring the developments.
