Former Russian Minister Named the Biggest Guarantee of Peace for Ukraine. And It's Not NATO.
The former foreign minister of Russia, Andrei Kozyrev, stated that the main means of ensuring Ukraine's security is its strong army, rather than NATO membership. According to him, if the Ukrainian army has modern weapons used in America and Europe, it will ensure its strength. Kozyrev emphasized that if the Ukrainian army can drive out Russian troops, Russia will not dare to invade Ukraine. At the same time, he noted that Putin would not use nuclear weapons but would also not attack a country with a strong army.
Kozyrev expresses doubts about the possibility of Ukraine joining NATO, as this requires the approval of all member countries. He also criticizes the willingness of Western countries to fight for their independence, as Ukraine does. For this reason, in his opinion, Western countries should focus on developing their own weapons rather than joining NATO. He cited the example of Israel, which successfully defends itself thanks to its own modern army, rather than membership in the Alliance.
U.S. President Donald Trump also stated that Ukraine can forget about NATO due to its desire to join the Alliance.
However, Washington has announced that the issue of Ukraine's NATO membership is not currently being discussed.
