Musk's Company to Ensure Launch of NASA National Security Objects.

The U.S. Department of Defense has awarded a contract to Elon Musk's SpaceX for the launch of national security objects worth $5.92 billion by 2033. The contract also includes accelerating missions, addressing problem situations, monitoring the space fleet, and analyzing specific missions.

The work will be carried out at several locations, including SpaceX's headquarters in Hawthorne, California, and at Cape Canaveral, Kennedy, and Vandenberg Space Force bases. The contract will last until April 2033.

The Space Systems Command at Los Angeles Air Force Base reported that the contract was awarded after a competitive selection involving four contenders. For launch and space fleet monitoring services, $75.9 million has been allocated from the 2025 budget for the first year of the contract.

SpaceX continues to support missions for U.S. national security, including the deployment of satellites and conducting reconnaissance. The Falcon launch vehicles and the upcoming Starship play a critical role in the NSSL Phase 3 Lane 2 program, which aims for high performance and complex integration.

Previously, Donald Trump nominated Jared Isaacman, a private astronaut, for the role of NASA head. Isaacman is a billionaire who participated in private space flights, including a flight with Elon Musk's SpaceX. Isaacman's inauguration is scheduled for April 9.
