The US Congress banned employees from using DeepSeek.
The administrative leadership of the US Congress has forbidden its employees from installing the Chinese application DeepSeek on official devices. The reason for this ban is that scientists have not conducted sufficient research regarding its information security, and the likelihood of destabilizing the American market.
«Currently, the DeepSeek application is being reviewed and is not officially approved for use,» said the chief administrative officer of the US House of Representatives.
Malicious actors may use the DeepSeek app to spread malware and infect devices. In this regard, the House of Representatives has restricted the functionality of DeepSeek on its devices.
Initially, the Chinese company DeepSeek offered a free chatbot that competes with the American ChatGPT. The DeepSeek-R1 application is quite popular and has taken leading positions among free applications on the Apple App Store in the US, the UK, and China.
