Smuggling of wild cats from Ukraine to the EU: a couple arrested in Mallorca.
A couple suspected of smuggling exotic cats online has been detained in Mallorca. Nineteen cats were found in their mansion, including various hybrid breeds. Police seized documents and veterinary passports from different countries, which are currently being examined. The investigation began in March last year. The detained couple used social media to post ads for selling animals. They smuggled cats to the EU and used forged documents. The cats are now at a local zoo and will later be transported to a special center near Alicante.
Additionally, Ukrainian customs officials found a hidden stash of cigarettes and wine during an inspection of a truck carrying ice cream. The truck arrived at the Orlivka border crossing and was destined for Israel. This is yet another case of smuggling across the Ukrainian border.
