Alongside Odesagade, six other streets in the modern Nordhavn area are slated to receive names honoring Ukraine:

  • Kyivgade
  • Mariupolgade
  • Khersongade
  • Sevastopolgade
  • Ukrainegade
  • Mykolajivgade

This naming project is taking place in Nordhavn, a contemporary district currently under active development.

Denmark has been a consistent provider of humanitarian and medical aid to Ukraine. The street naming decision represents a further step in strengthening bilateral ties, reflecting the current geopolitical context and Ukraine's needs.

This move symbolizes not only Denmark's support for Ukraine but also an acknowledgment of the significance of Ukrainian cities in the current global landscape.

The new street names in Nordhavn are intended as a meaningful act of solidarity, highlighting international support for Ukraine during a challenging period. Such symbolic acts can also foster cultural connections and reinforce the bonds between nations.
