Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia Dmitry Medvedev expressed the view that security guarantees for Ukraine should be provided by Russia, the USA, the UK, France, and China - countries that have veto power in the UN. He also reminded of the Budapest Memorandum, where these countries have already provided security guarantees for Ukraine.
'Modern Russian diplomacy, similar to the Soviet one, uses the tactic of demanding the impossible and going all the way. This is reflected in their approach to negotiations,' said Yahun.
The expert noted that Russia raises the stakes to the impossible, hoping that their demands will be partially considered, ignoring their aggressive behavior.
'They completely ignored the fact of the occupation of another country's territory and the responsibility for war crimes,' added Yahun.
The expert pointed out that Russian diplomats deliberately avoid discussing these issues during negotiations, hoping that their demands will ultimately be met.

Earlier, the Institute for the Study of War stated that the Kremlin demands veto power over any security measures for Ukraine from the West, trying to undermine the efforts of the USA, Europe, and Kyiv to establish peace in the country.
