Crimea in tension: Russia stokes fear of possible Ukrainian strikes.
Russia is strengthening its control over the information space in temporarily occupied Crimea and spreading panic about possible Ukrainian actions on the peninsula.
This information was shared by expert from NISS and "National Platform for Resilience and Cohesion", Yulia Tishchenko, on the broadcast of the FREEДОМ channel.
"If we talk about Crimea, Russian media and the information space dominate with narratives that Russia always wins, and Ukraine is to blame for everything... There is a wave of anxiety about possible Ukrainian strikes and a possible military operation on the peninsula. This causes panic among people," she stated.
The Russian side has full control over the information space in Crimea, where they actively support Russia's image and cleanse mass media of any undesirable materials and opinions.
"After Moscow, Crimea is second in the number of criminal cases based on "fakes about the Russian army" and "discreditation". There are also many fabricated accusations based on other Russian laws against our citizens. This indicates that people are spreading truthful information, and Russia and the occupying authorities are trying to suppress it," emphasized Yulia Tishchenko.
