Meeting of Zelensky and Kellogg on July 9
'A substantive conversation with U.S. Special Presidential Envoy for Ukraine Keith Kellogg. I thanked him for participating in the Ukraine Recovery Conference: the General leads the U.S. delegation', the president stated.
According to him, the parties raised the issue of sending weapons to Ukraine and strengthening its air defense, discussed the purchase of American weapons, joint defense production and localization in our country, as well as tightening sanctions against Russia.
'We understand that tougher restrictions on Russian energy are needed, especially secondary sanctions against buyers of Russian oil. We hope for progress on the legislation of Senators Graham and Blumenthal in the U.S. Congress. This is something that can certainly make Russia think more about peace', Zelensky stressed.
The president also expressed gratitude to U.S. President Donald Trump, both parties, and the American people for their support and assistance, emphasizing the importance of friendship between nations.
Recall that on the same day, Zelensky also met with Pope Francis and Italian President Sergio Mattarella, receiving support in both meetings.
In the meeting of the Ukrainian president with the U.S. special envoy, issues of military assistance and sanctions against Russia were discussed. The discussions also concerned strengthening defense capabilities and the peaceful resolution of the conflict. These steps reflect the intentions of both countries to support Ukraine in the context of its security and sovereignty.Read also
