President Donald Trump has sent letters to some countries regarding the establishment of tariffs on exports to the United States up to 50%. Among the recipients of such 'Trump letters' are Brazil, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Moldova, Brunei, Algeria, Libya, and Iraq. He believes that the trade deficit with other countries harms the US, therefore he imposes tariffs as a response. Trump also threatens to impose 17% tariffs on exports of EU products. The deadline for concluding the 'agreement' is July 9. This initiative has become part of the president's strategy to protect American interests in the global market.
