Russia failed to capture Kupiansk by August 24: expert reveals the reasons.
The Russian troops were unable to capture Kupiansk
According to FREEДOM: The Russian troops failed to accomplish their main task - to capture Kupiansk by Ukraine's Independence Day. This is a failure on both military and political levels. This was stated today, August 24, on the air of the FREEdom TV channel by the commander of the 429th separate drone regiment 'Achilles' of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Yuriy Fedorenko.
'It should be understood that no negotiations between the USA and Russia today have any connection that could lead to a cessation of hostilities on the territory of Ukraine. Putin is trying to do everything possible to maximize the occupation of our territories. But his true goal is the complete destruction of Ukrainian statehood, the annihilation of those who carry this statehood, namely the Ukrainian people. This is something we must remember,' he emphasized.
The expert noted that the Russian occupiers are well aware that there are still 2-2.5 months left when the conditions for conducting offensive operations at the front are favorable.
'This is related both to the weather and the 'greenery' that is currently active in all logging areas. It covers the enemy's troops, who are trying to infiltrate our combat formations and also conduct their actions under cover,' Yuriy Fedorenko explained.
The military command of the RF assigned its troops the main task - to occupy Kupiansk by Ukraine's Independence Day, but they were unable to achieve this, emphasized the commander of the drone regiment 'Achilles'.
'The fact that the Russian troops were unable to capture Kupiansk has two important implications. First - political. Kupiansk is one of the symbols of the strength of the Ukrainian army. The city was liberated from the occupiers in 2022. And now, for the enemy, it was very important to capture it precisely by Independence Day. Second - Kupiansk is an important logistical center for the Russian occupiers. If the enemy manages to push our defensive forces back by 30 kilometers, they will be able to restore railway communication and supply their troops with everything necessary for further offensive operations. However, Kupiansk is currently under the blue and yellow flag. We managed to defend the city, and the enemy failed to realize their plans,' Fedorenko explained.
It should be noted that over the past day, there were 179 combat clashes at the front. The most intense points in the Donetsk region remain Pokrovsk and Novopavlivka. Russian occupiers are also increasing pressure in the north of the region - in the directions of Kramatorsk, Lyman and Severodonetsk.
The publication Kupiansk under the blue-yellow flag - Russian troops failed to realize their plans: Fedorenko spoke about the situation in the area first appeared on Freedom.
After the attempts of the Russian troops to capture the city of Kupiansk by August 24, the situation at the front remains tense, but the Ukrainian military continues to defend their territory. The enemy's failure to successfully capture the city has strategic significance, as Kupiansk is not only a symbol of the strength of the Ukrainian army, but also an important logistical center for the Russian occupiers.Read also
