According to UATV: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has revealed that a pivotal shift occurred in his relationship with U.S. President Donald Trump during a private meeting at St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican in April 2025. This encounter marked a significant milestone for future diplomatic ties between Kyiv and Washington.

Zelenskyy shared details of the meeting in an interview with American blogger Lori Loomer. He explained that in just 15 to 20 minutes, the dynamic between the two leaders fundamentally changed.

“In my opinion, it was a historic moment, because in 15–20 minutes we transformed our relationship,” the Ukrainian president emphasized.

Following the Vatican meeting, Zelenskyy also held a phone conversation with Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, during which they discussed accelerating diplomatic efforts and moving closer to peace. He added:

“The U.S. president heard me, and I heard him,” highlighting the importance of this dialogue for advancing bilateral relations.
