Lavrov Threatens New Strikes on Kyiv: Can Russia Really Escalate Its Attacks?.
Andriy Tkachuk Analyzes Russia’s Information and Psychological Campaign
According to Espreso.tv: Andriy Tkachuk, a Ukrainian Armed Forces officer and political scientist, shared his assessment of Russia’s latest information and psychological campaign against Ukraine. He pointed out that Moscow lacks the capacity to systematically increase the scale of its missile strikes due to limited resources, which significantly curbs its military capabilities.
Sergei Lavrov’s Statements
Against this backdrop, on May 25, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov held a phone conversation with Senator Marco Rubio. During the call, Lavrov threatened new strikes on targets in Kyiv linked to the Ukrainian Armed Forces and urged the evacuation of American diplomats. These remarks signal Russia’s intent to maintain an aggressive posture. However, according to Tkachuk,
“Russia cannot escalate large-scale strikes on Ukrainian territory.”
In Tkachuk’s view, while Russia may stockpile certain means of attack, the overall pattern of strikes will remain unchanged.
“They would have definitely launched several massive strikes first, and only then started an information and psychological campaign,”the political scientist added. Thus, despite Moscow’s threats, military analysts believe its ability to carry out large-scale attacks is significantly constrained.
Given the current military situation in Ukraine, it is important to recognize that, despite Russia’s aggressive rhetoric, its actual capacity to conduct large-scale assaults remains questionable. Limited resources and logistical challenges may pose serious obstacles to realizing the stated threats. Analysts suggest that Russia may be using information campaigns as a tool of coercion, but their military effectiveness remains limited.
