Ukrainian people with disabilities are granted a grant of up to £69,000: How to get help.
According to The Sun: Citizens should pay attention to the little-known grant of up to £69,000, which is intended to help with re-entering the workforce.
The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) provides these grants through its Access to Work program.
GettyGrants help people with disabilities purchase specialized equipment.
The program is aimed at employees aged 16 and over in England, Scotland and Wales who have physical or mental health problems to support their employability.
The grants are an unlimited fund, and each person is paid up to £69,000 annually.
Since it is a grant, the funds do not have to be repaid.
Your employer or you can, however, initially cover some costs, which will later be reimbursed.
Grants cover costs for equipment such as screen readers, video interpretation, or assistance services, so a person with a disability can work from home.
Additionally, the funds can be used to cover transportation costs if the person cannot use public transport.
The money can be used for the following support services:
- Assistance or companion to support at the workplace
- Services to support mental illness
- Modifications to the equipment used
- Special equipment
- Training colleagues on disability issues
- Communicator at job interviews
- Transport costs for equipment when changing jobs
Receiving a grant from Access to Work will not affect other social benefits you receive, and you do not have to repay the funds.
It is also not required to receive disability benefits to apply for Access to Work.
