Most Fires Extinguished in Lutsk Following Drone Attack

According to Novyny.live: On April 1, the city of Lutsk came under a drone assault that triggered multiple fires across the area. Emergency crews have since managed to extinguish three out of four major blazes ignited by falling debris. The wreckage from intercepted drones sparked large-scale fires, notably at a Nova Poshta terminal and several food storage warehouses.

Air defense systems successfully shot down all 10 incoming enemy drones, but the resulting debris caused widespread burning on the ground. A thick layer of smog has settled over Lutsk, largely due to the combustion of large quantities of food products. According to rescue officials, one site continues to burn intensely, with nearby State Emergency Service (DSNS) units deployed to contain it.

It is difficult to predict the timeline because the nature of the goods that are burning actually intensifies the flames and makes them exceptionally hard to control. DSNS forces are working hard to prevent the fire from spreading to adjacent buildings.

This attack was part of a larger offensive in which Russia launched over 200 drones across Ukraine. A fire at a local enterprise in Khmelnytskyi also resulted from the same wave of Russian strikes, highlighting the broad threat facing multiple regions. In Lutsk, the situation remains under control as rescue teams continue working to fully extinguish the remaining hotspots.

These events underscore the serious challenges Ukrainian cities face amid the ongoing war, particularly the growing danger posed by drone warfare. The strike on Lutsk, along with similar incidents, demonstrates persistent enemy efforts to destabilize the country. Emergency services must not only respond rapidly but also marshal substantial resources to manage the aftermath of such attacks, reinforcing the critical need for a robust civil protection system.
