The patient, 30-year-old Yulia from Lviv, experienced this rare event during her second pregnancy; her first had ended in a cesarean section. At just 24 weeks, she began leaking amniotic fluid, causing significant concern for both her and her medical team. Premature rupture of membranes this early carries a high risk of infection and preterm labor.

This 83-day period without amniotic fluid is exceptionally long for such cases. According to Doctor Ihor Fedash, this was the longest recorded interval of its kind at their hospital. Against the odds, Yulia carried the pregnancy to 35 weeks, when her son Matviiko was born weighing 2960 grams.
