According to ТСН: France and NATO plan to create a new platform to discuss long-term peace in Ukraine. Negotiations on reliable security guarantees for Kyiv will begin in Paris in January 2026.

This information was announced by French President Emmanuel Macron following a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.

Purpose of the Initiative

According to the French president, future consultations will be a logical continuation of the activities initiated within the framework of the 'coalition of the willing'. The main goal of the initiative is to create conditions for 'strong and lasting peace'.

'Starting in January in Paris, we will continue the work begun in this format to provide Ukraine with reliable security guarantees, which is a condition for strong and lasting peace,' emphasized Emmanuel Macron.

Support for Ukraine

He also emphasized that as long as Russia does not stop its aggression, France and its allies will continue to provide unwavering support for Ukraine.

'As long as Russia continues its aggression, Ukraine is fighting and resisting. It can count on us both today and tomorrow,' added the French president.

Possibility of Negotiations

It should be noted that the French side reported on Russian President Vladimir Putin's intentions to 'talk' with his colleague Emmanuel Macron. A decision on the terms of these negotiations will be made 'in the coming days'.

Earlier, it was reported that Macron spoke about the possibility of resuming negotiations with Vladimir Putin. This happened against the backdrop of the failure of the American peace plan.

The initiative of France and NATO to support Ukraine is expected to be an important step in ensuring regional security. At the same time, openness to dialogue with Russia could send an important signal of the international community's readiness to discuss a peaceful resolution of the conflict.
