Macron calls a summit in Paris: new security guarantees for Ukraine.
According to ТСН: The President of France, Emmanuel Macron, announced a large-scale meeting of allies in Paris during his New Year's address, where new commitments to support Ukraine will be confirmed.
He emphasized that the full-scale aggression of Russia against Ukraine remains a key factor of instability in Europe. According to him, the world is once again facing imperial ambitions and the destruction of the international order, forcing European countries to rethink their security approaches.
Commitments regarding Ukraine
Macron stressed the importance of protecting the sovereignty and freedoms of European countries and called for accelerating the development of European defense, which has already started its work and will receive a new impetus in 2026.
Specifically, a meeting of European and partner states is scheduled in Paris on January 6, during which, according to Macron,
specific commitments regarding support for Ukraine and the achievement of a just and lasting peace in Europe are to be made.
The French president also noted that France remains resilient thanks to strong institutions, an effective civil service, and powerful armed forces, which he characterized as among the strongest in Europe.
New Year wishes
In his address, Macron expressed wishes for the New Year—unity, strength, and independence, emphasizing that it is solidarity that helps overcome the toughest challenges and resist threats.
Moreover, he assured that he will fulfill his presidential duties until the end of his term in 2027 and will make every effort to ensure that the upcoming presidential elections in France take place without any external interference.
It should be noted that the day before, Macron announced the holding of a 'coalition of the resolute' summit in Paris at the beginning of January. The meeting will take place as a result of negotiations with the presidents of Ukraine and the USA—Volodymyr Zelensky and Donald Trump. The purpose of the event is to agree on specific contributions from partner countries to security guarantees for Ukraine, which will form the basis for a just and lasting peace.
Thus, the meeting in Paris promises to be an important step in supporting Ukraine from European countries and partners. In the context of ongoing Russian aggression, the commitments of allies become even more relevant, as ensuring stability in the region is a common task for all democratic states.
