Major Microsoft Outage: State Special Communications Service Explained How to Fix the Problem.

According to the State Special Communications Service, early in the morning on July 19, organizations in Ukraine and around the world encountered problems starting computers with the Windows operating system using CrowdStrike Falcon software.

Ukrainian organizations affected by this issue have already partially or fully restored their operations.

The State Special Communications Service recommends using instructions from CrowdStrike to quickly resolve this issue.

How to Deal with the Problem

1. Boot Windows in safe mode or Windows recovery environment.
2. Navigate to the C:\Windows\System32\drivers\CrowdStrike directory.
3. Find the file named "C-00000291*.sys" and delete it.
4. Restart your computer or server.

The State Special Communications Service writes that it recommends using this method until CrowdStrike resolves the issue and provides official information.

In the morning, several countries faced extensive outages. Airports, government agencies, banks, logistics carriers, communication operators, and private companies were forced to cease operations. According to Bloomberg, the CrowdStrike antivirus was installed on all Windows computers that are not working now.

American airlines were particularly affected. United Airlines and Delta Airlines suspended flights due to connection failures. Frontier canceled 130 flights and delayed 220, which is about 30% of their total. Allegiant and Sun Country also delayed 45% and 23% of their flights, respectively.

Chaos reigns in foreign airports, passengers cannot check in for their next flights, and people cannot retrieve their luggage. Booking and payment systems are also malfunctioning.

CrowdStrike confirmed that the Windows disruptions are related to an update from their provider. They are currently addressing this issue globally.

According to CrowdStrike, the disruptions on Windows hosts are related to the Falcon sensor. CrowdStrike Falcon is a universal platform for security and endpoint protection, blocking cyberattacks.
