Putin's New Rhetoric

Putin held a press conference at the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok, continuing his aggressive rhetoric against the West.

In his latest threats, he noted: “If [Western] troops appear there, especially during military operations, we consider them legitimate targets for destruction.”

This came less than a day after a meeting of Ukrainian and their allies in Paris, where the possible deployment of peacekeepers was discussed.

Twenty-six countries confirmed their readiness to send troops to Ukraine if a permanent ceasefire is achieved to support border security.

In response, Putin stated: “If decisions are made that lead to peace, then I simply do not see the point of their presence on the territory of Ukraine.”

“That is all. Because if these agreements are reached, no one should doubt that Russia will fully implement them.”

Moscow has previously violated peace agreements multiple times.

Putin again called on Zelensky to negotiate in Moscow.

This is the second time in two days that he has invited the Ukrainian leader to the capital of Russia.

Putin said: “The Ukrainian side wants this meeting and offers this meeting.”

“I said: ‘I am ready, please come, we will definitely provide conditions for work and security.’”

He also added that Zelensky's security will be '100 percent' guaranteed.

“The best place for a meeting is the capital of the Russian Federation… Moscow,”
emphasized Putin.

The Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov expressed discontent regarding Zelensky's lack of response, noting: “He was invited to Moscow for a conversation, not for capitulation.”

Shelling and New Threats

Despite threats, Ukraine is actively striking Russian military and oil and gas facilities. Among the attacks is a powerful explosion at a major oil refinery in Ryazan, just 125 miles from Moscow.

A recent map displayed by Putin's military generals raised concerns, as new areas were marked as part of Russia.

In addition to the four areas recognized by the Kremlin as part of Russia (Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson), new territories such as Mykolaiv and Odesa have now been added.
