Friedrich Merz: diplomatic relations with Russia regarding Ukraine
According to FREEДOM: Germany's Chancellor Friedrich Merz believes that serious difficulties still arise in the path of diplomatic efforts to reconcile the war between the Russian Federation and Ukraine. He stated this during a speech at a party conference in Osnabrück.
According to Merz, Germany and the EU have never made 'greater diplomatic efforts than in the last three weeks' regarding the war in Ukraine.
'We have taken the first steps. But let me put it this way: on this ten-kilometer distance, we may have only covered the first 200 meters. In any case, we are moving in the right direction. And, please, stop claiming that we are only discussing arms supplies,' — quotes the German Chancellor Die Presse.
The German Chancellor warned that achieving peace in Ukraine requires long-term support. Considering Putin's statements, Merz emphasized that everyone must understand how difficult this task will remain over the weeks or even months ahead.
