Microsoft is in talks to acquire TikTok

U.S. President Donald Trump announced that Microsoft Corporation is negotiating to acquire the Chinese platform TikTok. He noted that a decision on the app's future will be made within the next 30 days. This is the second Time Microsoft is considering the possibility of acquiring TikTok.

Additionally, Perplexity AI is also proposing a merger with TikTok through the holding company NewCo. The previous acquisition offer was made on January 19 and involved maintaining TikTok shareholders' stakes and allowing Perplexity AI access to videos. It is now planned that TikTok shareholders will receive stakes in the new holding company.

Trump stated that he has discussed the acquisition of TikTok with influential figures and believes that preserving the social network for American users will benefit the U.S. He also dismissed concerns regarding China and TikTok, asserting that the platform does not pose a threat to the country's national security. Trump also indicated that he would be open to Elon Musk acquiring TikTok.

TikTok plans to enter into an agreement that will ensure its operation in the U.S. This was stated by General Atlantic CEO Bill Ford during the World Economic Forum in Davos.
