SBU investigates the treason of businessman Mindich: what is known about the case.
Investigation into Timur Mindich
According to ТСН: The Security Service of Ukraine has initiated a pre-trial investigation against businessman Timur Mindich, who is one of the key figures in an anti-corruption case in the energy sector. The investigation is being conducted on suspicion of state treason.
Representatives of the SBU noted that the case concerns not only Mindich but also individuals associated with him.
“The facts of possible activities detrimental to the sovereignty, territorial integrity and inviolability, defense capability, as well as state and economic security in the interests of the aggressor state are being investigated,” the SBU reported.
In response to a request from MP Oleksiy Goncharenko, it is also noted that the SBU sent a request to NABU regarding the possibility of involving investigators and operational units for investigating possible facts of aiding the aggressor state by participants of the exposed criminal organization.
The head of NABU detectives, Oleksandr Abakumov, mentioned that documents are being studied in Mindich's case which may indicate possible offenses with elements of state treason in collaboration with law enforcement agencies.
It is worth noting that businessman Timur Mindich, who is a figure in the corruption case, has been chosen a preventive measure in absentia — remand in custody, as he left Ukraine a few hours before NABU's searches.
The State Border Guard Service confirmed that his departure was legal, as the businessman has three minor children.
NABU detectives are currently addressing the issue of the extradition of Timur Mindich from Israel, where he is staying.
This case attracts attention not only due to the charges of state treason but also in connection with its large scale. The investigation focuses on how Mindich's possible activities might affect Ukraine's national security, highlighting the seriousness of the situation in the context of the current political environment.
