Trump's Administration Removes Key Negotiator on Ukraine: What It Means.
According to ТСН: U.S. Army Secretary Dan Driscoll has been removed from participation in peace negotiations regarding the war between Russia and Ukraine.
This decision was made due to a mismatch between his actions and the authority granted to him.
“He is believed to have overstepped, and he was reprimanded,”- sources said.
According to journalists, Driscoll has close ties with U.S. Vice President Jay D. Vance, and his influence in President Donald Trump's administration was rapidly growing.
The Struggle for Control Over the Negotiations
Representatives of Ukraine and Europe believe that Driscoll's removal is part of a broader struggle for control over peace negotiations.
It should be noted that in November, Driscoll was tasked with presenting a 28-point plan to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. He also expressed the opinion that Russia could continue military actions “for an infinitely long time,” so Ukraine should consider making peace.
The removal of Dan Driscoll may indicate internal political disagreements in the U.S. regarding the approach to peace negotiations. It also adds new undertones to a situation where control over peace processes may play a crucial role in shaping Washington's foreign policy towards Ukraine and Russia.
