Ukraine's Defense Ministry Proposes Mobilization Reform with New Contracts and Penalties.
Overhaul of Military Recruitment Centers
According to Novyny.live: The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense is drafting legislation to reform its Territorial Recruitment Centers (TRCs) and introduce penalties for those evading military service. This bill, which aims to amend mobilization laws, is expected to be considered by the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament. These proposed changes come as Ukraine continues to defend itself against a full-scale invasion.
Yegor Chernev, Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security, has announced the intent to amend legislation to penalize draft evaders.
"I think we will soon see a draft law on new contracts for consideration in the first reading,"he stated. This indicates the Defense Ministry's serious approach to both mobilization and citizen accountability.
Financial Incentives for Service Members
As part of the reforms, the Ministry also plans to implement a system of financial incentives for military personnel. The new contracts will introduce differentiated payments based on a soldier's specialty and level of risk.
"These should be incentives for those who remain in the military and for those who are willing to join,"Chernev added. These innovations could significantly alter the staffing situation within the Armed Forces of Ukraine and boost service member motivation.
Therefore, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense is preparing a bill that not only reforms the TRC system but also introduces new support mechanisms for the military. The ultimate goal is to ensure the effectiveness of mobilization efforts. Given the ongoing military challenges, these changes could prove crucial for the country's stability and defense capability, as maintaining a properly staffed military is a vital component of Ukraine's national security.
