Ukraine’s Defense Ministry Unveils NEO-1 Demining Robot: Key Features and Capabilities.
NEO-1 Demining Robot
According to Espreso.tv: Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense has announced the NEO-1, a new demining robot designed to meet the demands of modern warfare. Built at the request of military personnel, this platform measures 85 cm by 81 cm, stands 41 cm tall, and weighs approximately 60 kg. It offers multiple control modes and a range of operational features tailored for challenging combat environments.
The NEO-1 reaches a top speed of 7 km/h and can operate autonomously for up to 8 hours. It is capable of carrying payloads of up to 70 kg or towing a cart weighing as much as 120 kg. Its control range extends to 500 meters, with an option to increase it to 3 km. Equipped with a video camera, the robot provides 10x optical and 3x digital zoom, enabling effective task execution under difficult conditions.
Core Functions of the NEO-1
Key capabilities of the NEO-1 include the detection of:
- ferrous metals
- gold
- silver
- OZM–72 mines
- TM-series anti-tank mines
- anti-personnel grenades
- shells and other hazardous items
This robot could serve as a vital asset for battlefield safety and landmine clearance operations.
On June 5, Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense also codified a new armored vehicle, the MAC OWL 'Sova', highlighting the country’s ongoing technological advancements to bolster its defense capabilities.
The introduction of cutting-edge technologies like the NEO-1 demining robot underscores Ukraine’s commitment to adapting to modern warfare challenges and enhancing the effectiveness of its armed forces.
