International Research: What Ukrainian Students Expect Most from Teachers

According to inkorr.com: The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine has announced the results of international research presented at the V Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen. The study entitled 'Education as a Tool for Forming Personal Resilience, Social Capital and a Culture of Peace' covered 14 countries, including Ukraine, and included surveys of teachers, students, and parents.

According to the survey results, Ukrainian students value fairness and support from their teachers the most, as well as the ability to understand personal circumstances. They also emphasize the importance of skills that the school develops, particularly creative thinking, attention, responsibility, teamwork, and emotional stability.

According to the research findings, students expect fairness (32%) and support and respect (31%) from their teachers;
Ukrainian students consider the most valuable qualities in a teacher during wartime to be the ability to provide support (58%) and understanding of life circumstances (56%).

Forming a Culture of Peace

Students also noted that the development of empathy, tolerance, and respect for different viewpoints can significantly contribute to the formation of a culture of peace.

The research highlighted the need for psychological and emotional support for teachers for students during wartime and in peacetime. It also emphasizes the importance of developing key skills that help students become successful citizens and contribute to a culture of peace.

The research underscores the importance of the role of teachers in the process of teaching and developing students, especially in the face of challenges posed by war. Psychological support and the development of key life skills can significantly affect the formation of active and responsible youth capable of peaceful coexistence in society.
