Ukraine's international reserves fell by 1.8% in July

On August 1, 2024, Ukraine's international reserves amounted to $37,231.9 million, which is 1.8% less compared to the previous month. This information was reported by the National Bank.

According to the NBU, the decrease in reserves was due to several factors.

Firstly, the influence was the sale of currency by the National Bank on the foreign exchange market. During July, the NBU sold $3,306.8 million and repurchased $1.8 million into the reserves. Thus, the net sale of currency amounted to $3,305.0 million.

Secondly, the government received $2,482.7 million as proceeds to its foreign currency accounts at the National Bank. Also, payments were made for servicing and repaying the national debt in the amount of $185.0 million.

Thirdly, the reassessment of financial instruments also had its impact. Due to this factor, the value of financial instruments increased by $342.9 million. Overall, the current volume of international reserves ensures 4.8 months of future imports financing.
