She is to replace Shmyhal. Who is Yulia Svyrydenko?.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky proposed Yulia Svyrydenko to head the Cabinet of Ministers. Currently, she is the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Ukraine.
Svyrydenko has already reacted to this proposal. She even outlined the first steps to improve the work and update the government.
In particular, she identified priority tasks:
- strengthening Ukraine's economic potential;
- expanding support programs for Ukrainians;
- scaling the production of domestic weapons.
Transition to the national level
Since September 2019, Yulia Svyrydenko has been the Deputy Minister, and within less than a year, she became the First Deputy Head of the Ministry of Economic Development.
From December 2020 to November 2021, she held the position of Deputy Head of the Presidential Office for Economic Issues.
In November 2021, she became the first Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Ukraine.
This position has become a certain 'springboard' for leading the government. At least, her chances for this position are very high.
Scandal
In April of this year, MP Volodymyr Ariev pointed out a possible conflict of interest in Yulia Svyrydenko. The issue is that, besides her work in the government, she taught at the Kyiv School of Economics and received fees.
Timofiy Milovanov, the director of the school, denied these claims, indicating the absence of a conflict of interest.
