Ukraine creates defense research centers: what technologies will be developed.
Launch of the Defense Research Centers Project
According to inkorr.com: The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine has announced the launch of an initiative to establish Defense Research Centers (CoRE: Defence) based at leading universities. This program aims to develop important technologies for the military sector and ensure decent payment for scientists.
Concept Competition and Funding
According to information provided by Deputy Minister of Education and Science Denys Kurbatov, the concept competition is planned for December. The best universities will be selected to create new centers, funding for which will cover six main areas of research: directed energy systems, space technologies, communication and navigation, autonomous robotic systems, semiconductors, and radar.
Military-Tech Cluster Brave1
Moreover, leading universities have already joined the military-tech cluster Brave1. The Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, Oksen Lisovyi, also announced a new financing formula for scientific institutions, which will take effect in 2026. In case of failure to pass certification, institutions may be reorganized.
'For the first time in Ukraine's history, we systematically and objectively assessed all scientific institutions funded from the state budget', - emphasized Lisovyi.
Thus, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine is launching a project to create Defense Research Centers based at leading universities to develop military technologies and improve working conditions for scientists. This step could significantly impact the level of innovation in the country and strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities in modern conditions.
