Extradition of a Mother of Three
25-year-old Lirije Delishi became the first woman to be extradited from Britain to Albania to serve a four-month prison sentence.According to The Sun: In 2019, Lirije was arrested while attempting to fly from Tirana, the capital of Albania, to Rome, using a forged Romanian passport. After this, she moved to Britain, and Albanian prosecutors filed a request for her extradition.
“This is how the court decided, and I have to go back,” Lirije stated in her last statement.
This case has attracted attention in both Albania and Britain, as it serves as an important example of cooperation between countries on matters of justice. Lirije's extradition marks a change in the level of international support in the fight against criminal offenses and underscores the importance of adhering to laws, regardless of residency.
