Ukraine Strikes Russian Refinery and Targets in Crimea: Details of the Operation.
Attacks on Russian Military Assets
According to UATV: On June 11, 2026, Ukraine’s defense forces launched strikes against military, logistical, and industrial sites operated by Russian occupation troops. Among the targets was the Afipsky oil refinery, located in Russia’s Krasnodar region, along with several other strategic facilities in Crimea and elsewhere. This refinery, with an annual processing capacity of 6.25 million tons of crude oil, produces diesel fuel, gasoline, fuel oil, and other petroleum products, making it a critical component of Russia’s energy infrastructure. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed a direct hit on the facility, resulting in a fire on its premises.
Strategic Objectives Behind the Strikes
In addition to the Afipsky refinery, Ukrainian forces targeted the following locations:
- a production site for maritime unmanned surface vessels in Sevastopol;
- a storage facility for unmanned aerial vehicles near Hryhorivka;
- command centers in the areas of Davydivskyi, Novoznamianka, Bakhmut, Selydove, and Pokrovsk;
- a drone command post near Novoandriivka;
- the areas of Dovzhansk and Avdiivka.
These actions highlight Ukraine’s ongoing military campaign aimed at weakening the enemy’s combat capabilities. By hitting energy infrastructure like the Afipsky refinery, which is vital for fueling Russian military operations, Ukraine seeks to disrupt supply chains and exert pressure on Russia’s energy stability. This sustained focus on key assets suggests a shift in Ukrainian tactics in response to threats from occupying forces, underscoring the scale and precision of their operations.
