The Importance of Negotiations with Ukraine for Poland and Warsaw
The Polish presidency in the European Union and Warsaw consider the initiation of negotiations with Ukraine on EU membership to be a 'very important' issue. Many countries are pressuring Hungary not to use its bilateral problems with Ukraine to block Ukraine's path to the European Union, said Polish MFA spokesman Pawel Wronski.
'Negotiations are currently underway, and the positive aspect is that during the recent discussion of the EU Foreign Affairs Council, many ministers were pressuring the Hungarian Foreign Minister, indicating to him that issues of bilateral relations, the resolution of which Ukraine declares, cannot block discussions on the first cluster, the opening of which should only arise from Ukraine's fulfillment of objective criteria,' Wronski noted.
Wronski also added that Poland is working to overcome Hungary's resistance and is intensifying pressure on this topic, as it is a 'very important issue' for them.
