Sybiha: Russia's Claims About an Attack on Putin's Residence Are a Fabrication for New Strikes

According to ТСН: Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrij Sybiha commented on Russia's accusations against Ukraine, which allegedly pertain to an attempted attack on Putin's residence, calling them a deliberate fabrication.

Sybiha expressed the opinion that Moscow is creating an information horizon for new attacks on Ukraine and is trying to undermine diplomatic efforts. He emphasized that the Russian side invents threats to divert attention from its own aggression.

“The Russian manipulations regarding alleged 'attempts to attack Putin's residence' are fabricated with the sole purpose of creating a pretext and false justification for further Russian attacks on Ukraine, as well as undermining and obstructing the peace process,” Sybiha emphasized.

He also pointed out that such behavior is a “common Russian tactic” where the other side is accused of doing what they themselves do or plan. Sybiha backed his words with arguments that clearly distinguish Ukraine's legitimate defense from Russia's war crimes, noting that it is Russia that attacks state institutions while Kyiv acts within the framework of international law.

“Ukraine only strikes legitimate military targets on Russian territory in response to Russian attacks on Ukraine. Russia is the aggressor, and Ukraine is the country being attacked, defending itself under Article 51 of the UN Charter,” the minister emphasized.

Furthermore, Sybiha warned international partners against equating the actions of the victim and the aggressor, stating: “There can be no false equivalence between an aggressor and a country defending itself.”

The minister confirmed that Ukraine remains committed to the peace process under the leadership of the USA and with the participation of European partners, despite Russian provocations.

“We urge the world to condemn Russia's provocative statements aimed at sabotaging the constructive peace process,” the Foreign Minister concluded.

It should also be mentioned that the Russian side allegedly reported on a drone attack on the state residence of the President of the Russian Federation, Putin, in the Nizhny Novgorod region, which occurred on the night of December 29. The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, called these accusations a lie and emphasized that such statements could create a breeding ground for possible strikes on the capital, urging the USA and Europe to respond to these threats.

It was also reported that the then President of the USA, Donald Trump, had a “positive” conversation about Ukraine with the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin. The assistant to the President of the Russian Federation, Yuri Ushakov, noted that Trump allegedly expressed solidarity with Putin regarding the attacks of Ukrainian forces on Russian facilities during recent talks.

These events highlight the tensions in the relationship between Ukraine and Russia, especially in the context of the use of information manipulation in the conflict. The statements of the Ukrainian minister again emphasize the importance of international support to protect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. There is a trend towards increasing international pressure on Russia due to its aggressive actions, which could significantly impact the future dynamics of the conflict.
