Ukraine plans to update and build checkpoints on the border

Ukraine intends to update 29 checkpoints and build 17 new ones by 2030. This was announced by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal. The goal is to create a single logistics space for the fast and unhindered movement of people, goods, and services across the border.

It is not yet specified which regions will be updated and where the new checkpoints will be constructed.

There are also plans to improve the 'eQueue' system, which is already successfully functioning at 28 checkpoints.

The government is also working on expanding the 'transport visa-free regime' with the European Union. As a result, Ukrainian carriers no longer need to obtain separate permits for transportation. In 2024, the export of goods by road transport from Ukraine reached $14.7 billion, which is 5% more than the previous year. A joint customs and border control at the borders with the European Union is also planned to be launched, starting from the Ukrainian-Polish border.

New checkpoints on the border with Hungary and Romania are also expected to appear to distribute the load on the main checkpoints.
