A Ukrainian man was detained in Russia for singing the song SISTERS MIX: he faces trial for "discrediting the army".
In the Krasnodar region, a native of Ukraine was discovered and detained for listening to a Ukrainian song. He is suspected of discrediting the Russian army. This information was reported by Russian media.
Ukrainian music causes problems in Russia
In Russia, there is ongoing persecution and restriction of all manifestations of Ukrainian culture. It turns out that in the Krasnodar region, a man was detained for singing the song 'We are an Unconquered Nation' by the Ukrainian band SISTERS MIX at his birthday celebration. This man was born in Ukraine and is now in Russia due to criminal cases in Ukraine.
Punishment for 'discrediting the army' and apologies
The man was forced to make a video apology, in which he expressed support for the Russian people and stated his desire for the death of Russia's opponents. But this was not the end of his problems. He has already been fined for minor hooliganism, and there is now consideration of opening a case for 'discrediting the Armed Forces of Russia'. How listening to a Ukrainian song is related to discrediting the army was not explained by the Investigative Committee.
These events demonstrate the extremely tense relations between Russia and Ukraine, as well as the limitations on the freedom of expression of cultural and national identities.
