French President’s Announcement

According to Espreso.tv: French President Emmanuel Macron has unveiled key decisions regarding the production of interceptor missiles and new agreements with Ukraine. Specifically, France has authorized the manufacturing of interceptor missiles for Patriot defense systems. As part of the collaboration with Ukraine, a decision was also made to license the production of Aster missiles.

Collaboration with Ukraine and New Deals

Ukraine, in turn, has signed an agreement to acquire new SAMP/T air defense systems. According to Macron’s statement,

“These will complement the systems and missiles to be delivered in the coming weeks.”
Additionally, the two countries have agreed to modernize Ukraine’s military aviation, including a project to purchase 16 Rafale fighter jets. Initial flights could take place between 2028 and 2029.

A significant milestone in this effort was the signing of a declaration to establish an Anti-Ballistic Missile Coalition, which took place on Monday, July 13. The coalition includes the following member nations:

  • Ukraine
  • Denmark
  • France
  • Germany
  • Italy
  • Netherlands
  • Norway
  • Spain
  • Sweden
  • United Kingdom

These decisions reflect the growing military cooperation between states in the realm of security and defense.

These steps demonstrate that France and its partners are working to bolster Ukraine’s defensive capabilities amid rising threats. The creation of the Anti-Ballistic Missile Coalition also underscores the importance of international collaboration in ensuring European security. Additional agreements on weapons modernization could significantly influence the evolution of the military situation in the region.
