Ukraine Faces Risk of a Second Front After September Vote

According to UATV: Roman Kostienko, secretary of the parliamentary committee on national security, defense, and intelligence, has warned that Ukraine could see a new front open after the elections scheduled for September. He stated there is a real chance the Kremlin will ramp up its reserve preparations, a move that could severely threaten the country's security.

Urgent Need for Resource Mobilization and Readiness

Kostienko stressed that Ukraine must urgently find additional resources to bolster its defenses. He pointed out that if a Chernihiv front were to open, and especially if Russia strikes a deal with Belarus, the current forces and equipment available to Ukraine would be far from sufficient to counter these new dangers.

'If they open a Chernihiv front, and God forbid they also make a deal with Belarus, then the forces and resources we currently have will be far from enough to oppose them.' - Roman Kostienko

This warning underscores the critical need for the state to prepare and mobilize resources amid growing security challenges. Given the potential shifts in the geopolitical landscape, Ukraine must be ready for any scenario. This is especially true regarding the looming threats from Russia and its allies, which demand swift government action and a strengthening of defensive positions.
