The Ombudsman reports on the video of the execution of Ukrainian prisoners of war

Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets reported on the spread of a video showcasing the probable execution of Ukrainian prisoners of war in the Kursk direction. The footage shows a Russian soldier executing a shot to the head of a prisoner of war who belonged to the 82nd separate airborne assault brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Lubinets emphasized that this indicates a deliberate murder of defenseless Ukrainian prisoners of war, which contradicts the Geneva Convention and international humanitarian law. The Ombudsman appealed to the UN and the International Committee of the Red Cross and urged witnesses and those with any information about this crime to report it to the Ombudsman's hotline at 0800 50 17 20.

The Donetsk regional prosecutor's office has initiated a pre-trial investigation regarding the execution of two captured servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Volnovakha district.

On January 3, Russian occupiers shot Ukrainian prisoners of war in the area of the village of Neskuchne in Donetsk. This incident occurred after Russian troops captured Ukrainian defenders in captivity in November 2024 during an assault. The occupiers then executed the prisoners.
