In Odesa region, a settlement is named in honor of military intelligence.
The village of Pershotravneve in the Odesa region was renamed to Hurivske in honor of the warriors of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense. This happened as part of the decommunization process, reports GUR.
The corresponding decision was made to highlight the significant contribution of the Ukrainian intelligence service in protecting national interests from external threats, strengthening the defense capability of our state, and honoring the feats of military intelligence officers
According to the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory, the warriors of the Main Intelligence Directorate carry out complex tasks during the war with Russia. They conduct strategic intelligence, participate in combat operations to liberate Ukrainian territories, and also carry out special missions in occupied territories and behind enemy lines.
The name Hurivske symbolizes the continuity of historical traditions in the creation of national intelligence services.
It is worth noting that in Dnipro, Yuzhna Street was renamed to Ukrainian Volunteer Army Boulevard. This is one of many toponyms that have changed their name in the last 2.5 years.
