Every day at 9 a.m., Ukrainians honor the memory of all those whose lives were taken by the Russian-Ukrainian war. Today we remember Serhii Leonov.

The life of Ukrainian defender Serhii Leonov, born in Luhansk, was cut short on September 1, 2022. This was reported by 'Hlavkom' with reference to the Lviv City Council.

Serhii Leonov was born on December 18, 1980, in the city of Kreminna in the Sievierodonetsk district of Luhansk region.

He studied at Kreminnyi Lyceum No. 1 of the Kreminna City Council in Luhansk region and later enrolled in the former Professional and Technical School No. 91.

After finishing his education, he initially engaged in farming and since 2021 worked as a security guard at a company in Kramatorsk. He had remarkable physical training and constantly kept himself in shape. After the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, Serhii Leonov's family was forced to leave their home and move to Lviv.

He himself volunteered to defend his homeland from the invaders as part of the 93rd Separate Mechanized Brigade 'Kholodnyi Yar' of the Operational Command 'East' of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He carried out combat missions in the eastern direction.

For his personal heroism, he was posthumously awarded numerous awards, including the Order of 'For Courage' of the III degree and the Order of 'Hero's Cross'.

The life of the Ukrainian defender was cut short on September 1, 2022. The funeral service for the serviceman took place on February 22 at the Garrison Church of Saints Peter and Paul in Lviv. The warrior was buried at Lychakiv Cemetery.

Serhii Leonov is survived by his mother, sister with family, and son.

'Hlavkom' joins in a moment of silence. We honor the memory of all Ukrainians who died in the struggle for their homeland. We remember those who were killed by Russian invaders, light memorial candles, and bow our heads in mourning during the nationwide moment of silence, honoring the bright memory of Ukrainian citizens who gave their lives for the freedom and independence of the state: all military personnel, civilians, and children, all who perished in the fight against Russian occupiers and as a result of enemy military attacks on Ukrainian towns and villages.
