In the Sumy region, bomb disposal experts neutralized a Russian Kh-59 aviation missile that did not explode during impact. This was reported by the press service of the National Police of Ukraine.

Employees of the explosive ordnance disposal unit determined that it is a Russian Kh-59 aviation missile. The missile is of the «air-to-ground» class, about seven meters long, weighs 930 kilograms, and has a powerful warhead weighing over 280 kilograms.

A mobile group of the explosive ordnance disposal unit of the National Police Department in the Sumy region, after inspecting the missile and its parts, separated the warhead from the body, moved it as far away as possible from residential areas, and carried out destruction using a shaped explosive charge.

The police remind citizens that in case of discovering any munitions, suspicious items resembling munitions or their remnants, especially bombs, UAVs of various types, rockets, or their parts, it is crucial not to approach or touch them.

«The first thing to do upon discovering any explosive device is to retreat from the finding at least a hundred meters and report it to authorities, military or police by calling line 102. Police sappers will arrive at the scene and neutralize the discovered explosive item,» said head of the explosive ordnance disposal unit of the National Police department in Sumy region Ihor Chernyak.

Ukraine needs $37 billion for mine clearance of its territory

Recall that earlier Andriy Savarets, coordinator of the Ukrainian Association of Humanitarian Demining and Reconstruction stated that Ukraine needs at least $37 billion to demine its territory.

By the way, the head of the Kherson regional military administration Oleksandr Prokudin informed that part of the right bank of Kherson region has already been demined. By the end of 2025, local authorities plan to demine the entire area, depending on the security situation.

Furthermore, high-precision artillery weapons or remote quality mining could hold back the active offensive of the occupiers, which is not supported at the state level for some reason. This was reported by the Hero of Ukraine, Major Ruslan Panezirov.
