Gas Attack on Ukrainian Military and Police Leaves Six Injured in Zakarpattia Region.
Violent Clash in Nyzhni Mlyny Targets Draft Officials
According to TSN.ua: In a brazen assault on March 13 around 11:00 AM, a mob of 20 men attacked personnel from Ukraine's Territorial Centers for Recruitment and Social Support (TCCs) and police near the village of Nyzhni Mlyny. The attackers used tear gas, resulting in chemical burns to three soldiers and three police officers. The incident was an attempt to disrupt the operations of these officials, who were carrying out mobilization-related duties.
Police detained eight men following the attack. Among them, six are subject to mobilization and have been sent for military medical examination. The detentions occurred as part of notification team efforts to staff Ukraine's defense forces. Legal proceedings are now underway to assess the actions taken during the incident.
Growing Tensions Over Mobilization
This event is part of a troubling pattern of aggression against Ukrainian military and law enforcement. Similar incidents include an attack on a TCC service van on March 8 near the village of Ozero in Volyn, and a stabbing of a TCC soldier in Dnipro. Additionally, a brawl broke out between civilians and police and TCC staff on Balsak Street in Kyiv. These cases highlight rising social friction linked to mobilization efforts and national defense requirements.
The uptick in violent encounters underscores the need to protect state officials performing their duties and points to a broader societal strain over conscription and military service. It also emphasizes the urgency of fostering dialogue between the public and authorities to resolve conflicts arising in this charged environment.
