Serbia Declines to Sign Kyiv Declaration: What Was Decided at the Summit.
Summit on 'Ukraine – Southeast Europe'
According to Espreso.tv: Held in Kyiv on July 15, the summit titled 'Ukraine – Southeast Europe' saw participants adopt a joint Kyiv Declaration. In this document, they committed to supporting Ukraine and intensifying pressure on Russia. Serbia was the only nation that did not sign the declaration.
'I am the only one who did not sign this declaration. Look at the text and everything will become clearer, and I won't need to explain anything further.' Aleksandar Vučić
Leaders from Moldova, Serbia, Romania, and Croatia attended the summit. Vučić emphasized that his country backs Ukraine's territorial integrity, stating: 'Everyone knows our position, and I know theirs.' He also highlighted the importance of discussing political stances at this level, noting: 'For me and for everyone else, it is extremely important that we discuss this here, as well as our political positions. And, of course, I do this with the aim of protecting Serbia's national interests.'
Key Issues of Cooperation
Thus, the summit in Kyiv served as a platform for addressing key cooperation issues among Southeast European countries in the context of supporting Ukraine and countering Russian aggression. Serbia's absence from the declaration underscores the complex political positions in the region, which will require further dialogue.
This situation could shape future regional policy and affect relations between Serbia and other summit participants.
