Recruitment for the Ukrainian Legion in Poland: Ministry of Defense reported initial results.
In Lublin, the recruitment of Ukrainian citizens who want to voluntarily join the Ukrainian Legion has begun. During the first few days of the recruitment center's operation, 138 applications were submitted via the website and another 58 through consular offices. This was reported by the Ministry of Defense.
More than a dozen officers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who arrived from Ukraine, will provide consultations and support during the enrollment process. There is also a military medical commission that conducts examinations and issues fitness conclusions for service. After processing, candidates will undergo training at a range organized by the Polish side, said the first deputy defense minister Ivan Havryliuk.
Ukraine provides legionnaires with uniforms and logistical support, while Poland provides weapons and equipment. After processing the applications, staff contact candidates for a preliminary interview and detail clarification. Candidates with Ukrainian passports are offered an interview with a commander and a medical examination.
If the medical commission is successful, the volunteer receives a contract within two weeks. Then they will be sent to the training ground for training, which will last 35 days. Servicemen, depending on the conditions, may also train at European NATO bases. - reported Havryliuk.
Applications to participate can be submitted through the official website or in Ukrainian consulates and embassies.
It should be noted that the number of Ukrainians who expressed a desire to join the Ukrainian Legion in Poland was insignificant. This was stated by the Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz. The formation of the Ukrainian Legion was envisioned by a bilateral agreement between Ukraine and Poland. The Ukrainian Legion was to be prepared for the defense of Ukraine, with the Polish army responsible for training, and Kyiv for recruitment.
