According to ТСН: The National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP) face a serious threat to their existence. The independence of these bodies remains in great doubt, and detectives are often subjected to pressure from those who resist their legitimate investigations.

Main points:

  • Institutional independence in question. As noted by detective Ruslan Magamedrasulov, the security situation of the Bureau is not changing. The main factors of pressure are the concerns of the involved parties before possible investigations.

  • Playing without rules. He also emphasized the unequal working conditions: anti-corruption bodies are obliged to adhere to the law, while their opponents often resort to illegal methods.

  • Protection as a constant process. The issue of NABU's independence requires ongoing efforts and cannot be solved once and for all.

"It is difficult to work within the law when those against you work entirely outside the law. This is an obvious example of how a completely illegal story can happen: they decided, attacked, and did it," Magamedrasulov noted.

What can guarantee the security of NABU and SAP

Ruslan Magamedrasulov believes that the only reliable way to protect the anti-corruption vertical is a "single orchestra" of control, which should include:

  1. society (constant attention to pressure attempts);

  2. international partners;

  3. media and civil organizations.

"When all this works as a single mechanism and provides protection, then this is the true guarantee of our independence," the detective concluded.

Ruslan Magamedrasulov also commented on his participation in the "Midas" operation, noting that his role was limited and did not involve full-fledged investigative work.

In conditions where anti-corruption bodies face challenges and threats, support from society and international partners remains vital. Only through joint efforts can appropriate conditions be created to ensure their independence and effectiveness. Emphasizing the importance of cooperation, Magamedrasulov underscores that successful fighting against corruption is a collective responsibility for all participants in the process.
