UN presented a project for training investigators with disabilities, but Ukrainian law enforcement agencies refused to implement it. This was reported by Olga Vasylevska-Smahliuk, a member of parliament from the 'Servant of the People' party.

The project was developed by the UN on drugs and crime, and aimed at enhancing the capacities of law enforcement in combating money laundering. Its implementation was to be carried out in Ukraine by the end of 2024.

«The project provided for the development of a special training course, appropriate adaptation of training locations to special needs, conducting training, and adapting the future workplaces of trained specialists to their special needs caused by disability», - the MP said.

Olga Vasylevska-Smahliuk addressed the Office of the Prosecutor General, SBU, NABU, DBR, and the National Police with a proposal to create this training course and equip places for investigators with disabilities, but all agencies refused. According to the MP, at the Time of the request, there were 11 disabled people in the Office of the Prosecutor General, and now there are 22.

According to the Security Service of Ukraine, 64 officials of the medical-social expert commissions and over 4000 disability conclusions were canceled due to suspicion of corruption schemes. More than 50 prosecutors of the Khmelnytsky regional prosecutor's office also received wrongful disability status.

Explanatory note

Ukrainian law enforcement agencies refused to implement the UN project for training investigators with disabilities. The project aimed to enhance the capacities of law enforcement in combating money laundering, which is a priority for the European Commission until the end of 2024.

Member of Parliament Olga Vasylevska-Smahliuk reported that she addressed law enforcement agencies with a proposal to create a special training course for investigators with disabilities, but received a refusal.

According to the Security Service of Ukraine, more than 4 thousand disability conclusions were canceled. A corruption scheme of acquiring disability status by prosecutors of the Khmelnytsky regional prosecutor's office was also discovered.
