Koretskyi Addresses the 'Servant of the People' Faction

On July 15, Serhiy Koretskyi spoke at a meeting of the 'Servant of the People' faction, as reported by Olha Vasylevska-Smahliuk. She noted that the session took place without the President present, and Koretskyi shared his biography and corporate sector achievements. Danylo Hetmantsev, head of the parliamentary finance committee, outlined three key priorities for Koretskyi's work:

  • Security and defense,
  • Preparing the energy sector for winter,
  • Support for socially vulnerable groups.

Experts describe Serhiy Koretskyi as a highly capable manager but a politically neutral figure. Volodymyr Fesenko noted that most sources characterize him this way. Lawmaker Yaroslav Zheleznyak also shared his perspective:

"If I were choosing a prime minister, one of the people I would propose is also Serhiy Koretskyi" — Yaroslav Zheleznyak

Commenting on Koretskyi's potential appointment, Vadym Denysenko stressed that he could be effective for what is likely to be a challenging upcoming winter.

Koretskyi's background includes work at Ukrnafta, Naftogaz, the WOG gas station network, and Centurion Group SA. His decades of experience in the oil and gas business could be crucial for ensuring the country's energy security amid growing challenges.

Appointing a new prime minister in Ukraine is a significant step given the current challenges the country faces, particularly in energy and social policy. With his expertise in the oil and gas industry, Serhiy Koretskyi could bring the necessary know-how to address pressing issues of energy independence and winter preparedness. Effective management in these areas will be critical for the country's stability in the months ahead.
